DriveTech sponsors Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow20 October 2006DriveTech (UK) plc have announced that they have become a platinum sponsor of the Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow that will take place in early November 2006 across the Thames Valley - see http://www.safedrive.org.uk.The company is already well known locally for operating the Speed Awareness and Driver Improvement schemes on behalf of the Thames Valley Police and is supporting the Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow to help educate young drivers in the community about responsible and safe driving. Chris Howell, DriveTech (UK)'s chairman and founder, said; “It's a very sad fact but 3,428 young adults (16 to 18 years of age) were killed or seriously injured on Britain's roads in 2005. That's nearly 10 young adults every day. The Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow is a unique opportunity to meet and communicate a 'safe driving' message with young people at the start of their driving career. Its aim is to highlight the risks they, their passengers and other road users, face out on the road. It may be unsettling to learn about the circumstances surrounding a serious road crash, but we believe that communicating the real life consequences, in an informative, sensitive and unpatronising way, will have lasting and positive effect everybody who attends the roadshow. This, in turn, will help them make better and safer driving decisions. As part of our aim to educate all drivers in the Thames Valley about responsible and safe driving, DriveTech (UK)is proud to be associated with, and to sponsor, the Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow.” EDITOR’S NOTES DriveTech (UK)’s goal is to reduce both an organisation’s vehicle business costs and the personal risk for ‘at work’ drivers, by significantly improving driver ABC - attitude, behaviour and competence - therefore supporting driver safety and corporate ‘duty of care’ requirements. DriveTech (UK) has won the Institute of Transport Management’s ‘Fleet Award for Driver Training’ in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 and its ‘European Driver Safety Specialist’ award in 2005. |
