Online tool acts like virtual administrator

29 April 2008

DriveTech (UK) plc (Stand M67) will reveal today at the Fleet Business Show (Business Design Centre, Islington, London, April 29 and 30) a revised version of its DrivingMonitor product, the only system a fleet manager will ever need to manage fleet safety effectively and remain compliant with the ever increasingly amount of health and safety-related legislation.

DrivingMonitor is a web-based management tool that provides the fleet manager not only with a wealth of information in real time but also extensive management capability. Think of it as a virtual member of staff.

There are nine distinct elements to DrivingMonitor and customers can elect to take as many as they wish, dependant upon their needs:

RiskMonitor
This online driver risk assessment tool categorises the driver’s risk level based on a combination of historical data, such as driving convictions, driving experience, typical mileage driven and hours/times of day at the wheel, together with four areas of specific assessment (hazard perception; traffic law knowledge; driving theory; response to defined risk scenarios).

TrainingMonitor
This feature allows the fleet manager or administrator to see the status of all participants in the training process in real time, irrespective of whether it is a practical or online intervention.

LicenceMonitor
Registers drivers’ licence details, generates a driver licence mandate document and triggers the process of carrying out a licence check.

AccidentMonitor
Accepts full details of all parties involved in any collision, including likely causation. This data can be used to liaise quickly and efficiently with the insurer, broker or accident management company.

FleetMonitor
This area of the system logs a host of details about the vehicles themselves, from model and specification to service history and insurance cover details.

TaskMonitor
If a driver exceeds the agreed points threshold on his or her driving licence, or is deemed to be high risk, this section of the system can be set up to provide email alerts and a resultant call to action.

CompanyMonitor
This provides what is essentially a mini company compliance audit. It reveals shortcomings in policies and procedures and acts as checklist for updates required in key fleet operational areas.

PracticalMonitor
When practical training of any sort is arranged, this section of the system holds all the delegate details, course information, dates and attendance record.

ContactMonitor
This area provides a total overview of everything that individual drivers have done, or are doing, and can produce a report detailing this activity.

“We believe that DrivingMonitor can be a vital aid to anybody with responsibility for running a fleet”, says Jim Kirkwood, DriveTech’s Managing Director, “particularly those who do not have much in the way of staff resource. DrivingMonitor can act as the repository of all the information that you would need to prove compliance with employee duty of care in the event of an investigation by the authorities.

“A lot of organisations actually have most pieces of the duty of care jigsaw in place but so often they are fragmented and difficult to demonstrate as a holistic programme. DrivingMonitor brings all the various strands together in a practical and visible manner.”
