DriveTech geared up for new truck and bus training23 September 2008Thanks to an EU Directive, most coach and bus drivers will have to invest in additional training from September 10 this year, and the Berkshire-based driving safety specialist, DriveTech, has created a dedicated new division to meet the needs of both individuals and companies throughout the UK. Already a major player in the corporate driver training market, DriveTech will now be able to provide professional PCV drivers with the means to comply with the new Certificate of Professional Competence regulations and thus safeguard their livelihoods. LGV drivers will have to comply with the new regulations from September 10, 2009. Drivers are required to complete 35 hours of specific Driver CPC training
every five years in a minimum of seven hour blocks, at which point they
are able to renew their Driver Qualification Card. The training requirement applies to all category C and D licence holders driving vehicles of 3.5 tonnes and upwards, as well as minibuses with nine seats or more.
