10,000 school kids got the safe driving message

28 November 2008

Crowthorne-based driving experts DriveTech once again supported the ‘Safe Drive Stay Alive’ road safety Roadshow, which took place at a variety of Thames Valley venues a few weeks ago. As a Platinum sponsor of the events, the company helped bring a serious road safety message to the most vulnerable group of road users – those in their teens.

The hard hitting, hour long, theatre-based presentations relayed in graphic detail the effects that fatal road crashes have on the victims, the victims’ families and those who are called upon to sort out the carnage at the scene. The powerful message was delivered at four different venues on 15 occasions in total and drew an audience in excess of 10,000, mainly 16 to18 year old school children.

DriveTech Chairman, Chris Howell, said “DriveTech was proud to sponsor this important event once more as it delivers an important message for this key age group in an uncompromising way. In partnership with other road safety stake-holders we are determined to stick to our objective of reducing death and injury to all road users in the Thames Valley, but particularly stem the tide of casualties amongst teenagers. Let’s hope that Safe Drive Stay Alive goes some way towards creating the responsible drivers, and passengers, of the future.”
