On April 17th, Drivetech’s Heleen te Wierik and Steve Winnitt attended a FitDrive stakeholder event ‘Road Safety for Professional Drivers, Towards Early Detection of Fatigue.’ During the event, Steve and Heleen delivered a presentation called ‘Drive Awake’, focusing on managing tiredness from a driver’s perspective.

At the conference, Heleen shared a sombre and tragic story of a driver who had fallen asleep behind the wheel and Steve showcased one of Drivetech’s Managing Tiredness & Fatigue  modules, emphasising the simplicity and conciseness of the Drivetech approach, which is crucial in a world where attention spans are often short. The objective was to shed light on Drivetech’s methodology for workshops and on-road training, highlighting the educational angle and how it aligns with the objectives of the FitDrive project.

The presentation aimed to provide practical, personally useful information to the audience, encouraging them to see the value of Drivetech training in managing fatigue effectively. Additionally, the inclusion of a short Think! campaign video further enhanced the message’s impact, fostering a deeper connection with the audience and reinforcing the importance of road safety awareness.

The event was a pivotal moment for Drivetech, as it provided an opportunity to contribute to the FitDrive project, particularly in understanding how professional drivers can effectively manage fatigue and how to monitor this aspect to ensure safer roads for all users from an educational angle.

As members of the Expert Advisory Board of the FitDrive project, Drivetech is eager to emphasise the importance of education as one of the main pillars of the initiative. This commitment reflects Drivetech’s dedication to promoting road safety and enhancing the well-being of drivers and other road users across the globe.
