Two DriveTech employees cycling in June to raise funds for the Road Victims Trust
Kate White and Colin Paterson – two colleagues at DriveTech - have taken the lycra-clad cycling plunge to support the Road Victims Trust (RVT) – DriveTech’s charity of 2019 – by participating in the London NightRider event overnight on the 8/9 June.
In its 10th anniversary year, NightRider offers two routes - a 100km and a 50km ride. Kate and Colin decided, as first-timers, to opt for the 50km circuit arguing they are achieving the 100km combined! They are now focusing on some build-up cycle training. The start and finish is at the iconic Lee Valley VeloPark, and the route takes in the fantastic sights of London in an event geared towards fun and participation rather than a timed race.
As many of the landmarks of London are taken in as possible, it is a truly novel and innovative way to keep fit, raise money for a great cause and see some iconic sights en route.
Commenting on this challenging but fun cycle event Kate White, a Internal Accounts Manager at DriveTech, said: “This is a great way to raise money for our chosen charity – the Road Victims Trust. My colleague Matt Davies started the ball rolling by running in the Dusseldorf marathon in April for the same great cause. I felt I should do my bit to help the charity as it works so hard to provide practical and emotional support to those who have lost a loved one in a road traffic incident.
Colin Paterson, Head of Marketing at DriveTech, added: “The 50km is daunting for someone like me whose physique has, let’s say, ‘seen better days’ but we will train hard and work even harder to raise money for our friends at Road Victims Trust. The appeal of the breakfast and medal at the morning finish line is additionally spurring me on!
