DriveTech delighted to be awarded Police “Your Belt Your Life” seat belt safety & Cycle Awareness delivery and administration contract
DriveTech, part of the AA, are delighted to have won the UKROEd Online Managed Service contracts “Your Belt – Your Life” (seatbelts) and the Cycle Awareness course following a competitive tender process.
The award was made in September and the hosting and administration contract is for a minimum of 3 years. Existing courses to encourage behaviour change, available since 2011, are being revised and new improved versions should be available for all police forces to adopt in Spring 2019.
The Seatbelt Course is for offenders caught not wearing a seatbelt, where there is no exemption. It is completed either online or by a workbook and it encourages people to alter their attitudes towards the use of seatbelts for them as drivers and their passengers and the consequences of mis-use.
The Cycle Awareness Course may be offered as an alternative to prosecution for cyclists who have committed a road traffic offence. It encourages them to be more socially responsible for their use of a pedal cycle and alerts them to dangers they can create to themselves and to other road users.
DriveTech have provided the managed service to 34 police areas since 2012, ensuring excellent course administration and high customer satisfaction to c30 000 clients annually.
Commenting on this contract win, Des Morrison, Police Contracts Director at DriveTech said:
“With over 1,790 deaths and over 170,000 casualties on UK roads per year* anything we can do to help reduce these figures is positive and valuable. We receive great feedback frequently from delegates completing these courses and are proud to support NDORS and the police areas to help change driver’s and passenger’s attitudes and understanding. We are delighted with this contract win. Not wearing seatbelts is still a major factor when people are injured (included in what is known as the ‘Fatal 4’*) and cyclists are amongst the most vulnerable road users, (Source RCGB 2017- second only to M/Cycles in casualties per billion miles).”
As a leading occupational driver risk management provider and the UKs largest provider of speed awareness courses, on behalf of 12 police forces and Transport for London, DriveTech are committed to best practice in road safety.
