To help passenger transport companies with their apprenticeship delivery, DriveTech can now conduct End Point Assessments (EPA) for Bus, Coach and Tram Drivers.
DriveTech is an approved End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) and is pleased to announce its inclusion on the Register of End-Point Assessment Organisations (RoEPAOs). Our capabilities cover the Apprenticeship Standards for the Level 2 Passenger Transport Driver – Bus, Coach and Tram. Verified by the UK government’s Education & Skills Funding Agency (EFSA).
Why Choose DriveTech
DriveTech, is a leading driver training and risk management provider. We’ve worked with companies in the passenger transport industry for over 11 years to ensure two things: firstly, that their drivers receive relevant training to reduce their on-road risk; and secondly to assess their workplace practices via Fleet Risk Audits and Driver Quality Monitoring (DQM). Our experience in conducting audits and driver quality monitoring means we already have the technical ability and rigorous assessment processes in place. When the opportunity arose to use our existing expertise to support our customers further by conducting end point assessments for their apprentices, we were pleased to develop an EPA service for them.
We consider ourselves the most experienced bus & coach driver training organisation in the UK that holds this EPA accreditation.
Commenting on this inclusion on the register, Craig McCall, DriveTech’s Sector Manager for the bus and coach sector, commented: “We submitted our application in late 2018 and were delighted to be approved and listed. We’re looking forward to supporting the bus and coach sector to benefit from the driver apprentice influx. In addition to this we already provide a full range of driver risk management services including Driver CPC. We are looking forward to hearing from bus and coach operators and Trailblazer groups to discuss the opportunity to be the final EPA sign-off point for their bus, coach and tram driver apprentice sign off”.
End Point Assessments Explained
The End Point Assessment (EPA) ensures that the apprentice can do the job they have been trained to do and typically comes at the end of a 12-month programme of ‘on-the-job’ training. The EPA must be
carried out by an independent organisation – the employer or training provider cannot assess their own apprentices. DriveTech are ready to work with employers who require an end point assessor for their apprenticeship candidates, and training providers who have contracts for employer’s apprenticeship programmes.
Only organisations on the register of end-point assessment organisations are eligible to conduct independent end-point assessment of apprentices. Although a number of different people and organisations may be involved in an apprentice’s end-point assessment, only the independent organisation needs to apply to and be listed on the register.
