If you’re looking to enhance your training skills, expand your business opportunities, and take your coaching to the next level, becoming a DVSA Accredited Fleet Trainer is the perfect next step. This qualification not only sharpens your driving and coaching abilities but also opens the door to more advanced training roles within the fleet management industry. Upon successful completion of the DVSA National Certificate in Fleet Driver Training, a candidate is able to register on the DVSA’s register of fleet driver trainers where they will obtain their fleet trainer badge.
At Drivetech, we offer a comprehensive three-day DVSA Fleet Accreditation Course designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to become an Approved Fleet Trainer.
Why Become a DVSA Accredited Fleet Trainer?

- Expand their business opportunities.
- Provide enhanced coaching to fleet drivers.
- Ensure safer, more efficient driving practices within organisations.
What Does the Course Cover?
Our course focuses on both theory and practical coaching to ensure you’re fully prepared for your DVSA registration. Here’s a breakdown of the key areas you’ll cover:
1. Theory Module
The theory element consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, divided into four bands:
- Band 1: Driving practices and procedures.
- Band 2: Driver attitude, law, and environmental issues.
- Band 3: Vehicle dynamics, handling, and accident procedures.
- Band 4: Instructional coaching techniques and hazard perception.
To pass, you’ll need to achieve at least 85/100 overall, with a minimum of 20/25 in each band.
2. Driving Ability
During the driving test, you’ll need to demonstrate your skill over a range of road types, traffic conditions, and driving scenarios. This will also incorporate elements from the the AA Advanced Driving Diploma. Expect to cover:
- Varied road conditions such as motorways, rural roads, and dual carriageways.
- Complex traffic situations, including roundabouts and one-way systems.
- The ability to show consideration for all road users, including vulnerable groups like pedestrians and cyclists.
3. Coaching Ability
This role-play assessment evaluates your coaching techniques. You’ll need to:
- Analyse a driver’s areas of on-road risk and identify areas of improvement while formulating an ongoing development plan for the driver.
- Identify areas of risk and suggest strategies to reduce them.
