Drivetech, part of the AA, is urging businesses not to overlook the importance of driver risk assessments as the UK navigates its way back to ‘business as usual’. The leading driver risk management and training specialist has launched a suite of new online driver reviews to ensure all businesses have easy access to risk assessment tools.

With human error a factor in up to 95% of all road incidents (RoSPA), businesses have a key role to play in fulfilling their duty of care to their drivers and other road users when it comes to minimising this risk. Drivetech has extended its support for businesses with the addition of three new online driver assessments tailored specifically for van, heavy goods and passenger carrying vehicles. These join the existing module for car users.

Online risk assessments are easily accessible and can be carried out on desktops, laptops, tablets or even smartphones, so ideal for remote workers. They’re quick to complete, so minimise the downtime of employees and are therefore cost effective.

Using the tailored risk assessments from Drivetech means that businesses will get a more accurate picture of the nature and weight of risk that any driver is likely to be exposed to based on their vehicle type, the nature of their journeys and work demands. It will lead to more specific outcomes which will enable further support and training to be better tailored to a driver’s or organisation’s needs.

Leo Taylor, Head of Product Solutions, at Drivetech, commented: “We’ve continued to invest in our digital offering to ensure we can deliver tailored risk management support online for businesses and drivers. Our three new assessments for drivers of vans, heavy goods and passenger carrying vehicles will be pivotal in helping businesses evaluate and identify risk in their fleet and what next steps to take. As we move along the government’s roadmap to easing lockdown, it’s vital that businesses don’t overlook driver risk assessments as society changes once again. All businesses will be impacted differently and face varying challenges, whether this is the traffic building on the roads again or passengers returning to public transport, so understanding each driver’s risk profile is important and now it’s simple, quick and cost-effective to do.”
