Coach drivers play a vital role in the safe transportation of passengers – making sure they get where they are going safely and on time. Our courses are designed to help you meet your duty of care obligations and support at risk drivers whilst minimising your drivers’ risk.
Coach driver training helps coach drivers to stay up-to-date with their training and qualifications and help their passengers arrive safely at their destination. Drivetech offers a range of online and on-road training including PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) Risk Assessments, Daily Vehicle Checks, Workshops and online e-learning.
To become a qualified coach driver, you can often apply to bus or coach companies directly and train on the job. Many companies will want you to have been driving for over a year and you will normally be required to undertake a PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) driver training course. You’ll also be required to train for, and receive, your Certificate of Professional Competence or Driver CPC.

Our driver training has nationwide reach and can be delivered online, on-road or in workshops to suit your business and its training needs.
Coach drivers can drive for 5 hours and 30 minutes of driving maximum before taking a break of least 30 minutes. Should you drive for up to 8 hours 30 minutes, then you must take at least 45 minutes in breaks.
Yes, we offer Driver CPC courses for drivers of lorries, buses and coaches. All courses in this section are DVSA-approved and are available online or in a classroom. The courses are either 3.5 or 7 hours in length and can be mixed and matched to contribute towards your drivers’ 35 hours of periodic training.
All Drivetech’s courses are designed with the FORS standards in mind. Drivetech offers Bronze, Silver and Gold Audits and we are licenced by TfL to deliver FORS CPC courses such as LoCITY Driving and Safe Driving.
We have also identified the requirement in the market for an assessment for drivers of Passenger Carrying Vehicles. Two versions of this assessment have been designed with bus and coach drivers in mind. It also considers if a driver has undertaken any Driver CPC training, and focuses on subjects like keeping your company compliant and passenger safety.
LoCITY Driving is a classroom-based course that focuses on minimising the environmental impact of buses, coaches, vans and HGVs by reducing emissions through the use of pre-journey planning and vehicle checks, fuel-efficient driving and alternative fuels.
Delivered on a one-to-one basis, this course targets each individual’s most prominent exposure to risk and reduce the likelihood of them being involved in future road traffic incident
Equip yourself with cutting edge knowledge and best practice driving techniques with the DVSA endorsed AA Advanced Driving Diploma. Designed for drivers of cars, light commercial vehicles, LGVs and PCVs, the qualification is based on the principles of Roadcraft, the police drivers’ handbook.

This five-day course has been designed to arm participants with the knowledge and skills to work with increased confidence in their role as an assessor and coach for their organisation, specifically for lorry and coach drivers. Not only will they improve their own personal driving skills, they will be trained to assess others’ driving skills and to subsequently coach them to improve their standards.
On the final day of the course, they will also take the Drivetech Advanced Driving Diploma test, accredited by the DVSA

This workshop is designed for all professional drivers who wish to increase their awareness of vulnerable road users. The roads are becoming more congested and the ability to share the road with other road users is becoming an important and life-saving skill. Suitable for LGV / HGV & PCV.
